Open Day is for parents too

Each year we welcome thousands of new students from overseas, mostly from the broader Asian region; and we’re proud to have welcomed more than 1500 young students from Indonesia, Singapore and India into the UWA family in the past three years.

We like to greet every international student individually when they arrive in Perth, and we provide continuing support services, programs and social activities throughout our students’ time at uni. For example, our ConnectMe program offers help to all commencing international students by matching them with a UniMentor before their arrival at UWA, so they can contact a fellow student who can answer their questions about uni life.

Many of our new students like to live on campus at one of our five colleges, but there are plenty of accommodation options close by the University or just 10 minutes away in the Perth CBD. With so many students living in the area, it’s easy to make friends; and it’s reassuring to know there always other people around who can provide help if it’s needed.

You probably still have some questions you’d like answered though – so step into UWA Open Day this August to October and find out more about what you want to know.

We’ll have some of our top lecturers present to answer your questions about our world-class courses and our state-of-the-art facilities (did you know we’ve spent more than AUD$100million on building construction and upgrades in the past five years?). And just as importantly, you and your child will be able to find out about internship opportunities while they are at university, and career opportunities once they’ve left university.

Best of all, you’ll be able to receive personalised, one-on-one advice – not just a brochure – from our Future Students and Admissions teams, as well as all the general information you could need from UWA academics, staff and former and current students.
