Scholarships are available to students from a diverse range of backgrounds, including academic achievement, financial need, educational disadvantage, leadership and community service, artistic or sporting achievements, and being from a rural or remote area.

Research Training Program

Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents are exempt from paying a contribution toward the cost of their research courses if UWA provides them with a Research Training Program place. This exemption applies for up to four years full-time equivalent study for a doctorate by research and two years full-time equivalent study for a master's by research. The RTP is a performance-based funding scheme administered by the Federal Department of Education and Training.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—the requirements set out in (a), (b) or (c) which follow or the equivalent as recognised by the Faculty; or the requirements set out in (d) or (e):
(a)(i) a bachelor's degree of this University; and
(ii) completed a postgraduate course in education requiring at least one year of full-time study; and
(iii) either two years' full-time relevant professional experience or adequate research preparation demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Graduate School of Education;
or
(b)(i) the Bachelor of Education of this University; and
(ii) either two years' full-time relevant professional experience or adequate research preparation demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Graduate School of Education;
or
(c)(i) a degree requiring at least four years of full-time study; and
(ii) two years' full-time professional experience in the field of education; and
(iii) adequate research preparation demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Graduate School of Education;
or
(d) a graduate diploma of this University that articulates with the Master of Education with an average of at least 65 per cent in four coursework units including a mark of at least 65 per cent in EDUC5631 Educational Research Design;
or
(e)(i) completed at least four units towards a graduate diploma that articulates with the Master of Education; and
(ii) completed units relevant to the requirements of the master's course and;
(iii) achieved an average mark of at least 65 per cent in four coursework units including a mark of at least 65 per cent in EDUC5631 Educational Research Design.

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
