Parking at UWA
From 1 January 2025, significant changes are coming to parking at UWA.
To support improved campus transport options and long-term sustainability, UWA will update parking rates and transition to a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) system.
New parking rates
Parking rates at our Perth campuses will increase following a thorough review of comparing UWA’s rates with public transport fares and parking rates in the broader community. This is the University’s first increase in 11 years and is comparable to the cost of a two-zone public transport fare. The new rates have been approved by UWA Senate and the leadership team:
Staff: $1 per hour, capped at $6 per session
Students: 75c per hour, capped at $3 per session
Transition to PAYG
In 2025, UWA will fully transition to the Pay As You Go (PAYG) system, replacing annual and pre-paid permits (this does not impact ACROD permits). Staff, students and visitors must use the EasyPark app to start and stop parking sessions each day. The PAYG system aligns with Australian Consumer Law (ACL), which requires parking permits to guarantee a parking bay, which isn’t always possible at peak times. With PAYG, you only pay for parking when you find a bay.
- No annual or pre-paid permits: All users will pay only for the hours they park
- EasyPark app: For instructions on setting up and using EasyPark, visit the EasyPark FAQs page.
Salary packaging option for staff
With the move to PAYG parking in 2025, staff will be able to salary package their parking costs, potentially reducing costs by up to 30%. More details on this option will be available soon on the Staff Intranet.
Staff: Find information on the Staff Intranet for current staff parking.
Visit EasyPark FAQs for information on how to use the EasyPark parking system at UWA.
We encourage the use of sustainable transport options, such as public transport and cycling, to reduce on-campus parking demand. Information about our cycling facilities and public transport options can be found on the Transport and Parking webpage.
