Office of the University Secretariat
The University Secretariat is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the corporate and academic governance of the University. Situated within the Governance Directorate, the Secretariat facilitates UWA’s corporate decision-making processes through the provision of reliable, comprehensive and confidential secretariat services to the Senate and its committees, including the Academic Board.
Roles and responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following functions:
- Secretariat operations supporting the Senate and its committees, including the Academic Board and its committees
- Secretariat operations for Boards of Discipline
- Secretariat operations for the conduct of appeals against outcomes of academic decisions relating to students
- Secretariat operations supporting a Higher Education Provider’s controlled entities
- Conduct of Senate and Academic Board Elections
- Legislative compliance, review and drafting regarding the University’s Statute, By-laws and Regulations, and related policies and procedures
- Voluntary Code of Best Practice for the Governance of Australian Universities alignment
- Institutional Policy Framework compliance
- Oversight of the University’s delegations framework
- Maintenance of University governance registers
- Ensuring an effective interface between the Executive, Schools, and the Senate and its committees
