Parking FAQs

At the start of 2024, the University introduced EasyPark, a digital parking permit system to make parking more convenient for our students, staff and visitors at UWA.

What does that mean to you? Staff and students should have received an email from [email protected] with instructions on how to access and use the EasyPark system. If you haven't received this email or if you need further information, refer to our detailed FAQs listed below.

What you need to know

For students and visitors

There's no more distinction between student and visitor parking areas. Instead, new yellow (student and visitor) bays are available for both. (Exception: This applies to most areas. However, at UWA Health Campus (Car park 101) - only students with an eligible EasyPark UWA account can park).

Eligible students can choose between a virtual permit or pay-as-you-go (PAYG) parking using the EasyPark app.

For staff

Staff permits have transitioned to virtual permits, eliminating the need for physical permits on windscreens. Eligible UWA staff can park in designated red (staff) parking bays.

Full details for staff parking are available on the Staff Intranet.

Benefits of EasyPark

  • Start and stop your parking using your phone, from anywhere
  • Only pay for the time you use
  • Reminders when your parking session is about to expire
  • No charge for a parking session under 30-minutes (one session per day)

UWA's paid parking applies Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Parking after these hours is free (unless signposted otherwise - always check the parking signs).

FAQs

Changes to student and visitor parking areas

UWA has implemented changes to student and visitor parking areas for improved accessibility and convenience.

  • There is no longer a distinction between student (yellow) and visitor (green) parking areas. Instead, new yellow general purpose bays are available to students and visitors.
  • Eligible students registered with EasyPark will be charged the student rate for parking in these yellow (student and visitor) bays. Visitors will be charged the visitor rate.
  • The new yellow zones means easier access to conveniently located parking at student rates for eligible students.
  • The yellow bays, can be used by both students and visitors, with distinct pricing:
    • Student rate parking will be 50c per hour to a maximum of $2 per session*. A session is valid for a full day (i.e. If you park for 4 or more hours in one session, the maximum payment remains at $2).
    • Visitor rate will be $3 per hour.
  • There are a limited number of green (special reserved visitor) bays, which are exclusively reserved for use by visitors attending UWA clinics (optometry, sleep and podiatry, Oral Health Centre, University Club members and Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery visitors. Always check signage and bay colour for zone confirmation.
  • No charge for a parking session under 30-minutes (one session per day)

*Session validity: A session is valid for a full day. For example, if you park for 4 or more hours in one session in the same car park, the maximum payment remains at $2. You can park in yellow (student and visitor) bays for this price.

REMEMBER: Your session is valid only if you remain parked in the same car park. If you leave campus and park in a different car park, you must stop your old session and start a new one for the new car park. However, if you leave the car park and return to a different car bay within the same car park, that is allowed within the same session.
