How to apply
There are six easy steps to submitting your application online. The process is simple and should take only 15 minutes to complete.
Choose your degree
Specialise in one area or create a degree that combines your interest. Whatever you seek, you’ll find a degree that fits at UWA.
When choosing your course, you should consider:
- The admission requirements, including any additional requirements such as admissions tests and interviews.
- Certain courses (such as medicine and other health courses) may also contain inherent requirements that you must meet during your course of study. These requirements will be listed on the course page where relevant.
- The fees and expenses you will incur when you study at UWA
- Some applications have earlier closing dates – these will be listed on the course page
When you’ve decided on what course you’d like to apply for, have the course name and code handy for your application. You can find this on the course page under course details.
Check entry requirements
To be eligible for entry into an undergraduate program at UWA, you will need to demonstrate that you:
- meet our English language requirements
- meet any prerequisites for your course. Some majors have certain prerequisites which must be met before you can receive an offer. Check individual major pages for more information.
- have studied or completed a recognised qualification to meet our academic requirements. Select from the below to find out if your high school qualifications can help you join us at UWA. Other qualifications can also be considered on an individual basis.

If you are completing or have completed Year 12 at WACE level, or the equivalent in another Australian state, you can use your ATAR results to apply to UWA.
This includes:

Prepare your supporting documentation and finances
Supporting documentation
Make sure you have the following documentation ready before you start your application for UWA.
- a certified copy of your academic results
- a certified copy of your English test results (if available) and
- a copy of your passport
Finances
It’s important to have considered the fees and expenses you will incur when you study at UWA. Please ensure you have reviewed the tuition fees and any ancillary fees prior to applying. If you are moving to Perth to study, you will also need to review the cost of living.
International students applying directly to UWA and agents applying on behalf of students to study at UWA will need to pay a non-refundable fee of $150. The application will not be processed until the Application Fee has been charged successfully.

Once you’ve applied, our Admissions team aims to process all applications in a timely manner. You can track the progress of your application in the UWA Application Portal.
If additional information is required:
- Admissions will contact you if any additional information is needed to process your application. You can upload any additional documentation to your application via the applicant portal.
- If you have applied for a course that requires an interview, Admissions will contact you close to the interview period.
- If you have elected to be considered for any credit or advanced standing, this will be reviewed by the Admissions team. This does not preclude you from applying for additional advanced standing after enrolment.
Information supplied to the University’s application system is collected and stored in line with the UWA Privacy Statement.
Accept your offer
You'll receive the outcome of your application via email.
If your application is successful, you can log in to UWA Apply to accept your offer. Or find out how to create a UWA Apply account if you don't have one yet.
Please note that all offers have an acceptance expiry date listed. If you do not accept by this date your offer will lapse.
Enrol
Exciting times ahead! Once you formally accept your offer you will be permitted to enrol in your course once the enrolment window opens. Any specific instructions on enrolment will be provided to you at this time.
Other entry options
- UWA Foundation Program
- Run by UWA College, this program guarantees you entry to one of our undergraduate degrees following successful completion (subject to quotas and degree requirements).
- WA Universities' Foundation Program
- Gain guaranteed entry through successful completion of this program at Canning College or St George's Anglican Grammar School.
- Northern Consortium United Kingdom's International Foundation Year
- We welcome applications from students who have completed and been awarded the Northern Consortium United Kingdom Foundation Year qualification.
- Group of Eight universities foundation programs
- You can complete a foundation program at other Go8 universities for entry to an undergraduate degree, subject to meeting our entry requirements.
- International Foundation Course in University Studies
- We accept students who have successfully completed this course at the following Chinese universities: Shanghai Normal University; Peking University, School of Foreign Languages; Sichuan International Studies University; or Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics.
Diploma programs
Secure your entry into the second year of a UWA bachelor’s degree by successfully completing a qualified Diploma program with:
- UWA College Diploma Program
- Secure your entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Commerce or Science degree by successfully completing a Diploma program with UWA College.
- Canning College Diploma of Commerce
- This diploma allows students to articulate into the second year of our Bachelor of Commerce.
English pathways to University study
- UWA CELT bridging courses
- If you don’t meet the required level of English language proficiency, you can complete two courses at the UWA Centre for English Language Teaching.

- When will I hear about my application?

Our Admissions team aims to process all applications in a timely manner. Please allow 10 business days for us to process your application. During this time, you can track the progress of your application in the UWA Application Portal.
You will receive a notification of the outcome of your application once Admissions has completed assessment of your application. If you receive an offer, your letter will provide you with further instructions on how to accept and enrol.
- What if I receive a conditional offer?

Your offer may have certain conditions attached to it. Some offers cannot be accepted until after certain conditions are met.
It is important to read through the conditions of your offer carefully. Instructions on how to meet the conditions of your offer are specified in your offer letter. Some offers will allow you to enrol with outstanding conditions. You will be required to meet the conditions of your offer no later than census date of the first teaching period, unless otherwise specified in the offer letter. Some conditions may need to be met prior to course commencement, and these will be specified when relevant.
- Can I defer my offer?

You may opt to accept your offer or defer your offer up to one year. If you defer your offer, you will receive another offer in due course which you will be required to accept or decline. Please note that for certain courses offered by UWA, deferral is not permitted.
- How do I respond to my offer?

- What if my application is declined?

You’ll be notified of your application outcome via email. If there are other entry pathways available to you, these will be detailed in your email.
- What if I am not satisfied with the outcome of my application?

If you are not satisfied with your admission outcome, you can request an appeal of the decision by emailing the Admissions office at [email protected]. If following your appeal you are not satisfied with the outcome you may submit a formal report to the University via Online Report Form | Advocate System (symplicity.com).
- Do I need to pay a fee to apply?
