German Abitur
The Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (commonly referred as the Abitur) is available in most German States after 12 or 13 years of schooling.
The University of Western Australia welcomes applications from students who have completed the Abitur program. To be admitted to the University, you must:
- satisfy the University's English language competence requirement by achieving a minimum grade 3 in German Abitur, in conjunction with a minimum grade B in DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Certificate of Language Proficiency test
- achieve a sufficient number of points to be offered a place
- satisfy any prerequisite subject requirements for your chosen course and major
Minimum entry scores
Abitur students must meet equivalent entry standards to other applicants. The following table provides an overview of the points considered equivalent to various Australian Tertiary Admission Ranks.

The Abitur has an overall final grade out of 6.
Equivalent subjects
To satisfy course and major prerequisites, Abitur subjects will require individual assessment for equivalents to WA Certificate of Education courses.
