UNDERGRADUATE

Honours

Honours is a rewarding final year of undergraduate study. You'll extend your knowledge through higher-level coursework subjects and an independent research thesis as well as strengthen your research, time management, problem solving and communication skills.

We also offer some integrated honours courses. These four-year courses also include advanced coursework and a major research or creative project in your final year.

How to apply

1

Choose your course

Choosing what to study is a personal choice and we’d encourage you to select what interests you.

When choosing your course, you should consider:

  • The admission requirements, including any additional requirements such as admissions tests and interviews. Honours courses will require you to have completed an undergraduate degree before you apply. Integrated Honours are four-year courses and will require you to meet the undergraduate course entry requirements.
  • Certain courses (such as medicine and other health courses) may also contain inherent requirements that you must meet during your course of study. These requirements will be listed on the course page where relevant.
  • The fees and expenses you will incur when you study at UWA
  • Review the intake period dates listed above for each course.

When you’ve decided on what course you’d like to apply for, have the course name and code handy for your application. You can find this on the course page under course details.

Check entry requirements

Honours

To be eligible to apply for honours, you need to:

  • successfully complete a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a recognised university, demonstrating a strong academic performance in the final-year units of the major you intend to study
  • confirm and meet the entry requirements of your chosen honours specialisation
  • time limits on recency of previous studies may apply, to ensure students have current knowledge in their specialisation

Most specialisations do not require you to confirm a supervisor or topic prior to applying, but if you have this information you can indicate it on your application.

For Anatomy and Human Biology, Neuroscience, and Physiology you are required to complete and submit a copy of the Honours Application Form with your application.

Integrated Honours

To be eligible to apply for integrated honours, you need to:

  • have studied or completed a recognised qualification to meet our academic requirements including ATAR or equivalent
  • meet our English language requirements
  • meet any prerequisites for your course. Some majors have certain prerequisites which must be met before you can receive an offer. Check individual major pages for more information.
