Albany Graduation Ceremonies: December 2024

If you completed some, or all, of your course at the Albany Campus, you can attend either:

  • a ceremony in Albany, or
  • a ceremony in Crawley (Perth)

 

You can only attend one ceremony.

The Albany Graduation Ceremony will take place early on Thursday 5 December 2024.

If you choose to attend the Albany Graduation Ceremony, you need to:

  1. Apply to Graduate in studentConnect as attending (between 19 August and 11 September)
  2. Confirm your attendance in studentConnect (between 18 September and 3 October)
  3. Email the Graduations Office via askUWA requesting to be allocated to the Albany Graduation Ceremony (after you have Confirmed your Attendance in studentConnect, between 18 September and 3 October)

  • OVERVIEW OF THE GRADUATIONS PROCESS FOR GRADUANDS ATTENDING THE ALBANY CEREMONY- DECEMBER 2024 
  • Ensure you have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number

    • It is an Australian Government requirement that from 01 January 2023, all higher education students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) for their degree to be conferred. Students who do not have a USI by their chosen conferral date will not be graduated, and will be moved to the next conferral.
    •  Please click on the link below for information on how to create your USI.

     

  • Step 1: apply to graduate
    • Applications are open from Monday, 19 August – Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
    • You will receive an email inviting you to “Apply to Graduate” in StudentConnect on Monday, 19 August 2024.
    • The “Apply to Graduate” deadline is Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
    • It is important to “Apply to Graduate” to reserve a spot for you in the ceremony, even if there is only a small chance that you will not complete the course requirements before Wednesday, 27 November 2024.
  • Applying to graduate as attending or in absentia

    You can apply to graduate and attend an in-person ceremony or to graduate in absentia, without attending a ceremony.

     

    GRADUATING AS ATTENDING AT AN IN-PERSON CEREMONY

    • Your award will be conferred at an in-person ceremony (either in Crawley (Perth) or Albany)
    • You will receive your certificate at your ceremony


    GRADUATING IN ABSENTIA

    • You award can be conferred in absentia, without you attending a ceremony.
    • Please be advised, once your award is conferred in absentia, you will not have the opportunity to attend a future graduation ceremony for your award.
    • Your certificate will be mailed to you.
  • Step 2: confirm your attendance for your in-person ceremony
    • If you applied to graduate as Attending, you will receive an email on Wednesday, 18 September 2024, asking you to “Confirm your Attendance” in studentConnect. In this email, you will also be advised of the date and time of your allocated ceremony, according to the Crawley (Perth) ceremony configuration. Refer to STEP 3 for Albany Graduation.
    • You will have between Wednesday, 18 September and Thursday, 3 October 2024 to “Confirm your Attendance”.
    • If you have Applied to Graduate in person, and you do not “Confirm your Attendance” by Thursday, 3 October 2024, your graduation status will be changed from attending to in absentia.
  • STEP 3: EMAIL THE GRADUATIONS OFFICE ADVISING OF YOUR REQUEST TO GRADUATE IN ALBANY

    • IMPORTANT: Once you have completed the Confirmation of Attendance process in studentConnect, if you wish to be allocated to the Albany Graduation Ceremony scheduled for early December 2024, you have to notify the Graduations Office by sending an email via askUWA between Wednesday, 18 September and Thursday, 3 October 2024, as follows:
      • Subject: Albany Graduation Ceremony request
      • Tag to the Graduation category
      • Message: Include your student number and the award for which you would like to graduate in Albany with

    If you do not email us, you will be allocated to the Crawley (Perth) ceremony for your discipline even if you are enrolled as an Albany student.

  • STEP 4: ACADEMIC REGALIA FOR ALBANY GRADUANDS

    Once you’ve completed your Confirmation of Attendance, you’ll receive an email from us with information and a link to order your academic dress. You won’t be able to order until you’ve confirmed your attendance, and emailed the Graduations Office advising us that you would like to attend the Albany ceremony. If you don't receive the email within 24 hours, askUWA so we can check your confirmation details.

    GFP Graduations is the University's preferred provider of academic dress. You can obtain your academic dress from any supplier as long as the academic dress complies with the University Policy on Graduation Academic Dress (Policy Number:UP11/49). Should your academic dress not comply, you will not be able to present on stage as you will not be appropriately attired AND at a regional campus, we do not have a capability to facilitate last minute requests. 

    Please ensure you order regalia at least 4 weeks prior to the ceremonies, so that the supplier is sufficiently stocked.

    • All academic regalia for Albany graduation attendees will be shipped directly to and from Albany Campus in one batch, by courier. Graduands are to collect the regalia from the Albany campus administration. Albany Campus administration will email the graduands when regalia is ready for collection with further instructions.
    • Regalia MUST be returned to Albany Campus staff at the AEC post ceremony.
  • STEP 5: GUEST TICKETS FOR ALBANY GRADUANDS

    Complimentary Guest tickets: To collect up to five complimentary guest tickets, please log in to the GFP online ordering portal from the date to be provided soon. You will be able to send your guests their electronic tickets via the portal.

  • STEP 6: MEETING COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

    • If you have not met your course requirements by Wednesday, 27 November 2024, your application to graduate (in person or in absentia) will be moved.
    • Applications to attend an in-person ceremony, are moved to December 2025 ceremonies.
    • Applications to graduate in absentia, will be allocated to the next available monthly in absentia ceremony, as soon as course requirements have been met.
    • If you would like to review your graduation status, log in to studentConnect and click the “Graduations” tab on the left
  • ATTENDING GRADUANDS: INFORMATION ABOUT THE CEREMONY FOR ALBANY GRADUANDS

    2 weeks prior to Graduation, you will receive an email from Albany Administration, that gives you all the event-specific information for the day, for both you and your guests. 

  • ONCE YOU HAVE GRADUATED: ACCESS TO MY EQUALS

    • Once your award is conferred, you will be sent an email with how you can access your certificate and AHEGS statement via My eQuals
    • My eQuals gives you the ability to access all your tertiary credentials through your own secure online portal and share them with anyone you like, anywhere in the world.
    • It’s a secure and easy way for verification agencies, employers and recruitment professionals to receive and instantly verify your official tertiary credentials online.
