Student Stakeholder Reference Group 

The voice of students on sport at UWA

The Sport at UWA Student Stakeholder Reference Group aims to provide a conduit between students and UWA Sport. Representatives speak as a voice for students regarding sport on UWA campuses.

The aims of the Group are to:

  • Provide first-hand information on the current perception and position of fitness, recreation, and sport offerings within the University.
  • Provide a direct communication point for UWA Sport to share information with the student population.
  • Provide first-hand information on current challenges, issues, and roadblocks facing core groups.
  • Support and foster the creation of new ideas and concepts that can help increase the value, presence and overall sport based student experience at UWA.
  • Provide input into the forming of and reviewing of strategic documents and plans as they relate to the strategy for sport at UWA.
  • Engage with and provide feedback to UWA Sport through focus groups and other customer satisfaction rating programs.

The Role of Students

A student representative is a self-nominated position in one or more categories below.
UWA Sport shall fill roles on a selection basis. An election process is not required.
A selected student may speak about other sporting experiences but specifically represent one of the categories below.
Some representatives speak on behalf of their elected position in the university, e.g., Student Guild or UWA Sports Council. 

The categories are:

  • Guild Sports Representative (Chair);
  • UWA Sports Council President;
  • UWA Inclusive Sport Champion 
  • Inter-College Sports Committee Member, or participant of IC Sports;
  • Inter-Faculty Sports Committee Member, or participation of IF Sports;
  • Gym-goer, as representative of students using gym facilities;
  • Class-goer, as representative of students using gym classes;
  • Swimmer, as representative of students using the UWA Aquatic Centre;
  • Social Sports participant, as representative of students engaged in social sports;
  • Student Athlete Development Program member, as representative of students in this program.
     

The commitment is for 1 term (12 months), with the option to extend for a second year. The commitment is to attend six (6) meetings of 1 hour across Semester 1 and 2 of 2025. Dates are to be confirmed and will be advised to successful applicants directly. 

Selections for 2025 will be confirmed by email. Selected participants will agree to attend and participate in meetings and teams conversations.
