Miss Jean Ethel Rogerson MBE, BSc, ARACI, bequeathed funds to The University of Western Australia (`the University'), to provide scholarships. This scholarship is to assist and encourage high-achieving Indigenous students pursue a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the University. Jean Rogerson was Warden of Convocation for 8 years and a member of the University Senate for 30 years, died on 25 December 1993, leaving a third of the residue of her estate to the University.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must—
(a) be a domestic student
(b) an Australian indigenous person
(c) be enrolled, or eligible to enrol—
(i) full-time unless the selection body is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances3 which preclude full-time enrolment; and
(ii) in the Bachelor of Science (BP004) or Bachelor of Science (Honours) (BH004)degree course with a major or specialisation offered through the Faculty of Science.
1 An Australian citizen or permanent resident or holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa or a New Zealand citizen.
2 An Australian Indigenous person is a person who:
* is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
* identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
* is accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which he or she lives or has lived.
3 Exceptional circumstances include, but are not limited to, a medical condition or major family commitments.
