Ms Gillian Gallagher and Dr Jamie Price have donated funds to The University of Western Australia (`the University?) to provide a scholarship to assist an Indigenous student, preferably a Female, from Western Australia, who is the first in their family to pursue a bachelor's degree at the University.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must—
(a) be a domestic student;
(b) be an Australian Indigenous person;
(c) be the first member of their family2 to attend university;
(d) be female
(e) have applied for a place at the University to commence an undergraduate degree course.
1 An Australian citizen or permanent resident or holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa or a New Zealand citizen.
2 An Australian Indigenous person is a person who:
- is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
- identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
- is accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which he or she lives or has lived.
3 First in the family is determined by indicating that no members of an applicant’s immediate family (parents, grandparents or siblings) have been awarded a qualification from a university.
Preference is given to applicants who, in the following order—
(a) are Female;
(b) are from a regional or remote area.
