Barry Armour bequeathed funds to The University of Western Australia to establish the Barry Armour Leadership Award in Engineering to encourage an eligible recipient, through participation in organised adventure activities, appreciate the natural wonders and unsurpassed grandeur of scenery of the South Island off New Zealand and in facing challenging situations, to develop their strength of character and leadership qualities.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the grant, an applicant must—
(a) have completed at least—
(i) 96 points toward an undergraduate degree with a major in Engineering Science; or
(ii) 96 points toward a Bachelor of Engineering Science (Honours); or
(iii) 48 points towards a Master of Professional Engineering; and
(b) be enrolled, or eligible to enrol full time-
(ii) in an undergraduate degree course with a major in Engineering Science; or
(iii) in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours); or
(iv) in the Master of Professional Engineering; and
(c) have made relevant bookings and have been approved for travel, in accordance with the University Policy on: Travel, and associated activities.
