Course details

This course will equip the student with contemporary knowledge and skills in responding to child protection challenges. Current international evidence-informed practice and research wisdom will be presented to frame key issues and provide practical information for assessment and decision-making. Professional supervision, case and staff management and the importance of a relationship-based approach to trauma-informed practice will be central, as well as a child and family centred approach.

This certificate is for caseworkers, managers, and policy makers working in the field of child protection, across government and community agencies, who wish to focus in-depth on the specialist knowledge and skills required for this complex and demanding area of practice. About the course

The course will explore structural and systemic issues as well as the practical application of evidence-informed frameworks for practice.  The principles of strengths-based intervention, culturally competent practice, capacity building and inclusivity will be central to the learning.
The graduate certificate is intended for people who already hold a degree but who wish to undertake further study so that they can proceed to a graduate diploma and possibly also a master's degree, or who wish to obtain advanced qualifications in a specific area of expertise.
