9.30am-10am Procrastination, Perfectionism and Pressure
Overcome common obstacles to academic success - This workshop will look at the reasons and mechanisms underlying procrastination, perfectionism and academic pressure, and provide practical and evidence-based solutions to help you manage them during your studies.
10.30am-11.30am Studying at uni: Evidence-based learning strategies
Learn effective ways to study - Not all study techniques are created equal. In fact, some of the most common techniques used by students are not actually the most effective. This workshop will discuss the scientific evidence behind how we learn and will give you practical strategies to help you retain information in the long term.
11.30am-12.30pm Writing university assignments
Know the steps to get started writing university assignments - This workshop will set you up for assignment success at UWA. Understand the basics of writing academic essays and learn about the importance of referencing.
12.30pm-1.30pm Reading, notetaking and lectures
Develop strategies for reading, notetaking and lectures- This workshop provides practical tips for avoiding information overload and developing notetaking skills for reading, lectures and classes.
1.30pm-2.30pm Navigating assessments in STEM
Switch on to assessments in your STEM units - This workshop will provide an overview of common assessment items in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) units. We will cover discipline specific strategies for quizzes and tests, practical classes, and science writing.
2.30pm-3.30pm Tips for studying maths and stats at uni
Get set for a successful semester of maths/stats study - Get the most out of lectures and tutes and prepare for your first assignments with these tips and strategies. We will talk about the way learning maths differs from other disciplines to set you up for a successful semester. Recommended for anyone studying maths or stats units.
