As Convocation forms the electorate for the University, all members of Convocation are eligible to be nominated for positions on the UWA Senate and to vote in elections for these positions. The UWA Senate currently comprises 17 members of which 2 are directly elected by members of Convocation for a three year term.

Those members of Senate elected by members of Convocation are currently as follows:

Adjunct Professor Warren Kerr AM

Elected Member of Senate (2015 - 2025)
Immediate Past Warden of Convocation (2017-2020)
Warden of Convocation (2013-2017)
Council Member (2010-2023)

In addition to being a member of Convocation Council, Warren is one of the two members of the UWA Senate elected by the members of Convocation.

He first became actively involved in Convocation in 2010, served as the Warden of Convocation during the period 2013 –2017 and was first elected as a member of the Senate in 2015.

Warren strongly believes in the potential of Convocation to support and assist every UWA graduate to achieve their full potential, encouraging them to live with integrity and honour in the bonds of lifelong friendship, building confidence to excel in their career and inspiring members to be active leaders, responsible citizens and engaged members of their community.

He graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1974 and for the past 21 years has served as a Director of HAMES SHARLEY Architects. In addition to his formal qualifications in architecture, Warren has a Masters Degree from the University of NSW in health administration and planning, and has spent most of his career specialising in the planning and design of major hospital projects.

In addition to his project workload, Warren maintains an active interest in teaching and research as an Adjunct Professor at UWA, as a Board member of the Australian Health Design Council, as Australia’s representative on an international forum aimed at improving the planning and design of health facilities and through various voluntary roles for the Institute of Architects and the Australasian College of Health Service Management. In addition, he is a Director of the Regal Theatre Foundation.

Warren is a former State and National President of the Australian Institute of Architects and a former State and National Chair of the Australian Council of Built Environment Design Professions.

In January 2009, Warren was appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for his services to architecture and his contribution to the planning and design of major health facilities.
