Accept your offer and enrol
This is the big one! If you haven't already accepted your offer, visit uwa.edu.au/UniStart and follow the steps to accept and enrol.
Get to know our support services
If you want some help with study, your financial situation, accommodation, counselling or your health, we’re here for you. Whatever you need, UWA is committed to supporting you along your journey. If you’re looking for academic advice, UWA's Academic Skills Centre team runs workshops and one-on-one tutoring for you to build your confidence in a range of areas, from researching and writing, to presenting and mathematics. For more support, browse our health, wellbeing and other services so we can help set you up for success.
Suss out student clubs
We all know there’s more to university life than your education. And with more than 140 clubs and societies (more than any other Australian university), an active Guild and plenty of events to fill your social calendar, you’re sure to find your squad at UWA. Search our list of clubs from anime to zoology and get excited.
Check out our scholarships
You might think scholarships are just for the academically gifted or those who’ve struggled through difficult circumstances, but you’d be wrong. UWA offers a wide range of scholarships to students every year to help support their study. Varying from sporting excellence and geographical location, to study in a particular subject area, see what you could be eligible for by browsing our range.
Get hands-on experience
Work integrated learning (WIL) or internships at UWA lets you choose from a variety of options to get real, hands-on experience in your area of interest. You’ll get to develop your skills, make connections, add to your CV and see what life’s like in the industry you want to work in. Some courses require you to go on a professional placement like teaching or law, but you can choose to take on a practicum even if it’s not required for your degree.
Look for a placement as part of credit towards your degree or find work experience outside your course, such as vacation work, an internship or becoming a UniMentor. You could also explore Guild Volunteering, the Career Mentor Link program, the McCusker Centre for Citizenship or the Perth USAsia Centre for opportunities. WIL can also consist of industry research projects or international experiences.
Find the best lunch and coffee
The last thing you want to be doing come lunchtime is searching for a decent meal, so we’ve got you covered. The Refectory houses a bunch of goodies in one locale to make things easy. You’ll find Roll’d, Rocketfuel, Tutti Frutti, Utopia and Subway here, along with Japanese, Chinese, kebabs and other cuisines. Elsewhere, there’s Hackett Café, the UWA Tavern and Quobba Gnarning Café at Reid Library. You’re also a short walk to other cafés around Crawley and the Broadway Fair shopping complex.
Consider living on campus
Do you dream of waking up just before class but still making it on time? Want the best access to all our facilities? Perhaps living at one of our colleges directly opposite campus is for you. College Row consists of five accommodation options for UWA students where you can enjoy public transport right on your doorstep, making that trip to the shops, beach or city quick and easy. Browse them all to see which one is for you.
Get career-ready
Why not look at undertaking the UWA Careers and Employability award program to enhance your employability and help kick-start your future career journey. By completing a number of modules, career development activities and practical experiences, you’ll gain real-world skills and knowledge to enhance your potential and gain success in your chosen field.
