Hear from Amy, a current international student from India studying Master of Environmental Science. Amy shares her favourite things about studying at UWA and what she wishes she knew before studying abroad.

Meet Amy

“Hi, my name is Amy! I’m an international student from India studying a Master of Environmental Science.”

Why did you decide to study in Perth over other study destinations?

“I chose to study in Perth because of how similar the climate is to my home country. And of course, because of all the beautiful beaches and scenery you can explore in Western Australia!”

What is your favourite thing about UWA?

“My favourite thing about UWA is the beautiful campus, you have so many spots to hang out after your studies and if you need any breaks.”

What do you enjoy most about your course?

“My favourite thing about my course is that you get to learn from some of the best in the industry. I chose UWA because it is a world top 100 university. But for my field, Environmental Science, it is one of the top 50 unis in the world, which will bring me a lot of opportunities in the future. I love that I get to share my ideas and thoughts with a lot of very intelligent people interested in Environmental Science.”

What are your favourite places to visit in Perth?

“My favourite things to do in Perth are visiting the beaches, especially Fremantle beach. Another cool place is Matilda Bay which is right across from campus if you want to catch up after classes, it’s the perfect place to hang out with your friends.”

Is there anything you wish you knew before moving to Perth?

“Before moving to Perth, I wish I’d known moving overseas isn’t going to be as easy as I first thought. There are always going to be ups and downs when you are moving away from your home country, but there is plenty of support available. You might need more time than you think to feel settled, but it will all be worth it once you are.”

Is there any advice you would give to other students considering Perth?

“If you are a potential student considering UWA or Perth, I would definitely say go for it! It will be such an amazing experience, there are so many students and staff at UWA that can help guide you throughout the process. There are great opportunities to experience, so just go for it!”
