EYES ON ART –THE OCEAN PROJECT 2024
Ode (An Acknowledgement of Sea Country)
Tuesday 30 July 2024, 1–2pm
Students are invited to join us for a special program of ‘looking at art’ in EYES ON ART at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery during the university’s common lunch time (1-2pm) on Tuesdays during 2024.
Artist Kirsten Hudson, has been commissioned to explore and communicate diverse ideas including scientific and cultural information, and human emotions related to the ocean as part of the cross disciplinary project - The Ocean Project 2024.
Participate in a ‘close reading’ of artworks in her exhibition Ode (An Acknowledgement of Sea Country) with Dr Janice Lally, Curator of Academic and Public Programs.
Join us to hear how the artist has worked in consultation with CSIRO Environment research scientists, including mathematician Dr Fabio Boschetti, psychologist Dr Matt Andreotta, marine ecologist Dr Cindy Bessey and engineer Nick Mortimer, to explore different knowledge systems and produce an exquisite installation that embodies the ocean.
The artwork commission has been sponsored by the Friends of the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery.

In each of the exhibition seasons of 2024, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery invites students to join a discussion and be guided by someone who is informed about the artwork on display.
The program EYES ON ART continues throughout the year. It also includes 1 October.
