A bequest was left to The University of Western Australia ('the University') to establish a fund to provide a scholarship to encourage and assist a high-achieving student to continue studies towards the Doctor of Medicine in the Surgery stream. Professor Cecil Lewis was the founding professor of Surgery at the University.
