English competency

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.

The Music Theatre major will help you develop your artistry and knowledge as you take to the Music Theatre stage. 

About the course

Develop your practical music skills and artistry as well as exploring music theatre history and analysis, allowing you to contextualise your performance through understanding the theoretical frameworks of music. 

Through expert instruction from experienced professionals, you will hone your skills and develop your unique style. You will explore all aspects of performance, from acting and singing to dancing and stagecraft.

Matt Rueben James Ward

Matt is a graduate of the Royal College of Music London (RCM Yvonne Wells Award) and the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Performance credits include the roles of Messenger in Life to Come (written and directed by Stephen Fry), Western Union Boy in English Touring Opera’s Olivier Award Winning Paul Bunyan, Andres/ Cochenille/ Frantz in The Tales of Hoffmann (ETO UK tour) and Giacomo in L’assedio di Calais (Armel Operafesztivál Budapest, Arte TV live broadcast, ETO UK tour).
