Career Pathways
As a graduate of Italian Studies you are well qualified for careers in all areas that involve interpersonal and communication skills, especially when dealing with people from a range of cultural backgrounds. These include travel, hospitality, publishing, theatre, commerce, international relations, the diplomatic services, teaching and interpreting and translating. Knowledge of a foreign language can lead to jobs in international banking, journalism and communications, medical areas, music and the arts.

Domestic Student Fees
Eligible Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) students can use the HECS-HELP loan program to pay their tuition fees. For Full-Fee Paying (FFP) places, students are charged an annual course fee.

Admission requirements
English competency
English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.

Course Structure
This major is available in three different streams, catering from beginners through to near-native speakers. It is possible to combine Italian Studies with a second major from within Arts, Biomedical Science, Commerce or Science.

- communicate effectively in the Italian language in the four macroskills of language acquisition – reading, writing, listening and speaking – rated according to the Common European Framework for Languages
- interact confidently and successfully in situations involving Italian cultural conventions
- interpret Italian texts – written, audio, visual – in the light of Italian culture and society
- move with accuracy and skill between the English and Italian languages and cultures
