Research Training Program

Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents are exempt from paying a contribution toward the cost of their research courses if UWA provides them with a Research Training Program place. This exemption applies for up to four years full-time equivalent study for a doctorate by research and two years full-time equivalent study for a master's by research. The RTP is a performance-based funding scheme administered by the Federal Department of Education and Training.

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(a) the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from this University, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty;
and
(b) at least one year's relevant professional experience.

Course details

The course is available to suitably qualified and experienced graduate podiatrists who wish to broaden their knowledge base of podiatric medicine via two semesters of coursework and practicum units, and to then engage in four semesters of independent doctoral-level clinical research on a topic of interest.

About the course

Topics in this course include biostatistics and research methodology, practical aspects of extended patient care and patient-oriented research, including the ethics and communication of research, resulting in publication of an original thesis.
