Join Adam Pinto for an unforgettable performance of the complete Préludes, Book 1 by Claude Debussy, Katherine Potter’s Respired, and the world premiere of a major new work by UWA’s own James Ledger.
Debussy’s twelve preludes from Book 1 are a cornerstone of the impressionist repertoire, guiding listeners through vivid colourful scenes from nature, mythology, and literature. James Ledger’s Canons to Cannons plays on these two homophones: a musical device where a melody is followed by an imitation of itself; and a device designed to emit a projectile at high speed. Kathy Potter’s Respired, originally composed for the extended range of the Stuart and Sons piano, will be heard here for the first time in a version reimagined to suit the range and resonance of a standard concert instrument.
