Four exceptional educators from The University of Western Australia have been recognised in the 2024 Australian Awards for University Teaching.

Associate Professor Donella Caspersz, from the Business School, Professor Sarah Murray, from the Law School, Associate Professor Grace Oakley, from the Graduate School of Education, and Associate Professor Yu Tao, from the School of Social Sciences, received Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.

UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma congratulated the recipients on their outstanding contribution to teaching and enhancing the student experience.

“Our exceptional academics have provided great inspiration and leadership to our students across a diverse range of disciplines,” Professor Chakma said.

“Our educators are vital to the University experience and this national recognition for their continued excellence in learning and teaching at UWA is well deserved.”

The citations recognise and reward the diversity of contributions made by individuals and teams to the quality of student learning.

They are awarded to individuals or teams who have contributed to the quality of student learning in a specific area of responsibility over a sustained period, whether they are academic staff, professional staff, sessional staff or institutional associates.

The Australian Awards for University Teaching were established in 1997 by the Australian Government to celebrate and reward excellence in university teaching.
