The UWA Maali team will look to fly high at home in a double header fixture against quality teams, The University of Melbourne and La Trobe University.
After a week’s rest, the team in blue and gold will take on The University of Melbourne in front of a local crowd at Bendat Basketball Stadium. The players will take court at this new venue for the first time in the league, an inaugural moment for all UBL teams. The intense rivalry will continue as UWA Maali aim to finally get over the line and win this team. The men’s last game against The University of Melbourne was closely contested, only going down by 13 points. The UWA Maali women also impressed in the last encounter against the Melbourne foe with the team only losing by 2 points. The new-look Maali team are excited to get their first win of the season in front of a home crowd.
The second game of the double header features the UWA Maali team going up against La Trobe University. A challenging assignment for the home team as the opposition hasn’t been threatened in previous encounters. The host team are eager to test the defending champions, the La Trobe women’s team along with the fourth placed men’s team. The momentum is building inside the UWA Maali camp with both teams improving in the second game of the first-round double header. The team inspired by the Black Swan will set a target to produce a consistent sixty-minute game, from start to finish, focusing on their game strategy.
