The University of Western Australia’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma has honoured 22 top researchers and technical support staff in the annual Research Awards.
Professor Chakma said research was a vital part of the University and each of the individuals honoured with an award or commendation had excelled in their disciplines.
“I congratulate all of the research award winners for their inquiring minds, hard work and dedication to making discoveries that help the whole community,” Professor Chakma said.
“We have also recognised the importance of research mentors who help develop the next generation of innovators.”
Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Research Award – Professor Donna Geddes (Molecular Sciences) and Winthrop Professor Daniel Green (Human Sciences)
Vice-Chancellor’s Mid-Career Research Award – Professor Ullrich Ecker (Psychological Science) and Associate Professor Katie Attwell (Social Sciences)
Vice-Chancellor’s Early-Career Research Award – Adjunct Associate Professor Amy Page (Allied Health) and Dr Qi Fang (Engineering)
Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Mentorship – Professor Charitha Pattiaratchi (Oceans Institute) and Professor Jingbo Wang (Physics)
Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Impact and Innovation – Dr Joanna Melonek and Professor Ian Small (Molecular Science)
Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Support Excellence – Nicole Austin (Engineering and Oceans Graduate School)
Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Technical Support Excellence – John Breen, Mark Henderson, Dr Guido Wager, Jarrad Hoyle, Khin Seint, Manuel Palacios, Adam Stubbs, Jason Stubbs (Oceans Graduate School)
Vice-Chancellor’s Award for HDR Supervision - Professor Minghao Zheng (Medical School)
Vice-Chancellor’s Collaborative Partnerships Research Award – Professor Julia Marley (Medical School and Rural Clinical School)
