If you have high blood pressure or you're finding that your weight is an issue, you may be able to assist researchers at The University of Western Australia.

The Dobney Hypertension Centre (DHC), a joint venture between UWA, Royal Perth Hospital and the RPH Research Foundation, is looking for volunteers to participate in their clinical trials in the management and improvement of high blood pressure and other related diseases.

Blood pressure obesity

Professor Markus Schlaich from the UWA Medical School said researchers are investigating the effectiveness of a combination of drug treatments to assist in lowering high blood pressure.

“Obesity related hypertension is a complex disorder and studies have already shown there's a link between weight gain and blood pressure,” Professor Schlaich said.

“We’re investigating two possible drug treatment combinations so if you’re aged between 25 and 65, have a BMI above 30 and have been diagnosed as having high blood pressure, you may be eligible. “

If you’re interested to learn more about the study or get involved, contact research nurse Sian Tondut on 08 9224 0240 or email [email protected]
