Statement from the Vice-Chancellor: UWA to require proof of vaccination for access to campuses

25/01/2022 | 1 min

As an evidence-based institution, the health and safety of our community is our highest priority, and the University believes that vaccination plays a vital role in reducing the severity of this virus.

Aligned with State and Federal government public health advice, the University has continued to encourage all students and staff to get fully vaccinated, including having a booster dose when eligible.

As a result, the University intends to issue a UWA COVID-19 Premises Access Direction by February 7, subject to approval by Senate this week.

In accordance with the Direction all staff, students and visitors will have to show proof of full vaccination as a condition of entry to all University campuses, in addition to the current State Government health directions which continue to apply.

Proof of vaccination status will be required to access University campuses. A UWA Staff COVID-19 App, ‘UWA Vaccination Register’ will be available from January 31 for staff to confirm their vaccination status.

Students can confirm their status via a signed declaration before a UWA Student COVID-19 App is finalised ahead of the start of Semester 1.

Contractors and visitors will be managed by relevant local areas, with an automated system — Rapid Global — available to log status for contractors.
