Panel Discussion with IOTA24 exhibition curators

Friday, 18 October, 1-2pm

Join three curators who contributed to three very different IOTA24 exhibitions to hear them speak of how the bodies of makers and audience feature in the conception and realisation of exhibitions.

Speakers: Annette Nykiel, Curator of Mélange, Carola Akindele-Obe, Co-Curator & Festival Director for iota24, Lee Kinsella, Curator of  Stuffed, Bolstered and Upholstered.

Annette Nykiel is one of the co-curators of Mélange held at the Mundaring Arts Centre which features works by artists inspired by the encounter and exchange of deep time, geological forces, and the Anthropocene, adapting craft knowledge through the practice of slow-making.

Carola Akindele-Obe is one of the co-curators for the IOTA24 CODES IN PARALLEL exhibition at Curtin University which features several international craft artists and spans the Indian Ocean region, along with work from First Nations Australia and Perth.

Lee Kinsella is our very own curator, who curated the exhibition on now at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery Stuffed, Bolstered and Upholstered. Stuffed, Bolstered and Upholstered is an ambitious investigation of fibre and textiles in relation to bodies, power, memory and places, reflecting on the intricate histories embedded within crafted objects.
