Artist talk - Jody Quackenbush

Saturday 16 July, 2pm-3pm

Multi-disciplinary artist from Northbridge, Perth, Jody Quackenbush, will discuss her artwork exhibited in the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art exhibition: Sustaining the art of practice. In her work, she has reappropriated sourced second-hand fabrics and family Momento Mori collections. Quackenbush will elaborate on her reference to the legacy of female artists from the historical canon; namely sculptor Camille Claudel and themes relating to psychological illness.

Quackenbush completed a Bachelor of Visual Art from Edith Cowan University in 2007 and has undertaken studies at Massey university N.Z in Textile Design. She also studied painting and sculpture at Western Australian School of Art, Design and Media in 1999. In 2000 she was selected for the annual Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) Hatched exhibition and has twice been selected for exhibition in the Joondalup Invitation Art Prize and won a Highly Commended Award at the 2020 York Botanic Art Prize.
