-----------------------
Sherry Quiambao is an Australian/Filipino multi-disciplinary artist based in Boorloo/Perth, WA. Her practice spans photography, video and installation, exploring themes of consumerism, migration and cultural identity. Growing up within the Filipino diaspora on Yamatji and Marapikurrinya Country, her work reflects the tension between belonging and displacement. Quiambao’s recent projects including Gold Mountain, explore personal and collective narratives to examine how material culture intersects with heritage and identity. Her work reflects engagement with personal memory and cultural history, offering layered perspectives on the intersections of identity and aspiration. Quiambao holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture from Curtin University, followed by postgraduate studies in heritage and education. She has exhibited across Australia, as well as internationally in the Philippines and the USA.

de-centre re-centre The exhibition highlights the strength and diversity of contemporary photography in Australia. Deploying and disrupting conventions of portraiture and landscape, the selected artists explore place and belonging in First Nations, diasporic and queer communities.
