I've always been interested in this field, especially being an Indigenous student myself and knowing the health and social justice issues we face in contemporary Australia.
I enjoy the flexibility and freedom I have within the context of my course. There are so many other areas of study I can venture into that give me a strong grounding in the world around me, and that has given me confidence in many other aspects of my studies. I also enjoy the structure of my major, because I can explore the scientific background to the more social and political aspects that constitute Aboriginal Health.
I would like to pursue a career in the health or medical field, where I can be a role model and an ambassador for the Aboriginal community, travelling, educating, meeting people from all walks of life and working towards better health. I find joy in knowing I am dedicating my entire life’s work to not only closing the health gap but also helping future generations of Aboriginal people live healthier lives.
