Admission Requirements
(a) a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
or
(b) a level and duration of education and professional experience considered by UWA to be sufficient to permit satisfactory completion of the course;
or
(c) completed two postgraduate public health (PUBH) units.

English competency
English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.

About the course
This course provides students with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of public health and how public health works to create healthier populations. Students will learn fundamental concepts in a range of public health areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, qualitative research methods, health economics and health promotion, plus the biological, environmental, economic and social determinants of health.

Public Health Field Trip
Students electing to complete a field trip unit have the opportunity to apply the theories learnt to a current health issue in a low-to-middle-income international country. You will develop evaluation, leadership and mentoring skills which will be applied in a developing country. The students will mentor a small group of undergraduate students who are working with a local university or non-government organisation (NGO), on a health issued that they have identified as a priority.
