The University of Western Australia’s Business School has been placed in Australia’s top three in the AFR BOSS Best Business Schools ranking for 2022.
UWA’s Business School was ranked second in Australia out of 37 institutions for quality and third overall behind The University of New South Wales and University of Melbourne.
The rankings look at reputation, quality of teaching as well as career and salary prospects.
UWA Business School Dean, Professor Peter Robertson said it was gratifying to see the University’s strengths in teaching and research recognised in the rankings.
“We use online pathways to make it easier for students to start in their home country and then finish up here but at the core of our DNA is face-to-face teaching on our beautiful campus in Perth,” Professor Robertson said.
The UWA Business School’s advisory board is headed by Diane Smith-Gander AO and includes a cross section of Perth’s most senior leaders — Reserve Bank board member Mark Barnaba AM, Woodside Energy CEO Meg O’Neill and Rio’s Iron Ore head Simon Trott.
“I know firsthand the quality of the student body in the UWA MBA as I teach a masterclass in corporate governance each year,” Dr Smith-Gander said.
“Advisory Board members also teach, mentor students and support the Dean with strategic planning so we are delighted to see this well-deserved recognition of what we consider a truly world class School.”
UWA Vice Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma said the high ranking reflected the quality of the Business School’s teaching and its focus on students and their future careers.
“The UWA Business School has a fantastic record for passing on business knowledge and setting up students for a bright career in corporate leadership,” Professor Chakma said.
“I congratulate not only our teachers and people from the business community who support the school but also our students who continually aim for excellence.”
