Callaway Music Auditorium
UWA’s leading music performance space
The Callaway Music Auditorium is a noteworthy performance space designed for ensemble rehearsals, lectures, recitals, performances and workshops. The auditorium creates an opportunity for students to gain performance experience, from playing as a solo performer to participating in a full symphony orchestra or choir.
Built in the 1970s, the Callaway Music Auditorium was constructed with acoustics that impress even today. Adjustable sound baffles (effective, acoustic treatment to increase music clarity and reduce reverberations) transform the acoustics in the space for a large variety of performances, allowing a crisp sound for the audience.
Retractable-tiered seating allows a full capacity of 196, with partial extensions available, giving a range of flexible performance and staging options.
Other facilities include:
- Theatrical stage lighting
- Adjoining green room
- Two concert grand pianos (Steinway and Fazioli)
- Lecture theatre audiovisual set-up including projector, lectern with in-built PC, microphones, lecture-capture system and visualiser
