English for Academic Purposes

English for Academic Purposes classes are a pathway to other English language programs at UWA.  

If your language ability is between the upper-intermediate to advanced level and if you want to develop your English language ability in preparation for tertiary studies in an English speaking country, then we recommend you consider enrolling in English for Academic Purposes. In each five-week module you will develop your skills to:

  • take notes during talks and lectures
  • give and take part in seminars and presentations
  • read and understand academic articles
  • write academic texts clearly and accurately
  • conduct library and internet research effectively
  • use information technology to support your learning, and
  • learn about how to adapt to the academic culture of an Australian university

Sample Timetables

UWA CELT may run dual timetables for some programs. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) usually runs as a morning program. However, the timetable is subject to change to an afternoon program (1pm to 5.15pm) at the discretion of the UWA CELT Academic Management Team. Confirmation of the program time will be provided to students at time of enrolment.
