UWA Historical Society
The UWA Historical Society was established to honour and preserve the rich legacy of our university by sharing and celebrating the stories and memories of its staff, students, and historic campus.
Through dedicated preservation, events and initiatives, we aim to keep the university's vibrant history alive for future generations.
You are invited to celebrate our University history
- Do you have an interest in the history of UWA?
- Do you love wandering through the grounds or watching Festival films under the stars?
- Were you a student at UWA?
- Did you teach or work on campus?
If you can answer yes to any of the above you are invited to join in the activities of the UWA Historical Society.
Our objectives
- Encourage appreciation of University history amongst staff, students, graduates and the community
- Create a fellowship of persons interested in the history of the campus
- Promote University projects of an historical nature
- Contribute to the development of the University's historical record
- Collect and catalogue historical University artefacts
- Encourage historical displays of University material
- Improve access to University historical resources

The UWA Historical Society proudly supports and sponsors the publication and sale of historical publications about the history of the university.
Membership
Membership of the UWA Historical Society costs just $30 (incl GST) per calendar year and the majority of events are free to attend. We welcome new and renewing members and especially those interested in taking an active role in the Society. If you have an interest in the history of the University of Western Australia, please contact us so that we can share this interest and help build and retain an important historical record.
