Professor Annette George head shot

I undertook all of my study at Victoria University of Wellington including a PhD on the geological evolution of the Torlesse Terrane (subduction complex) in the southernmost part of the Wairarapa, North Island. New Zealand is an exciting place to discover geology, and I was fortunate to work on two different Antarctic projects during my PhD including a fieldtrip to the Transantarctic Mountains. I am really grateful to have had those opportunities. In moving to Australia, I also benefited from teaching and undertaking research in diverse locations in Victoria while at the University of Melbourne. Western Australia has provided a great many opportunities to work in sedimentary basins from Archean to modern in age, and to collaborate with a wide range of colleagues in Australia and overseas and, of course, research students.
