Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours)

Make a real difference to young children’s lives and equip them with the skills, knowledge and values needed to succeed in the world, now and in the future. This distinctive undergraduate teaching degree prepares you to be a teacher from Pre-primary to Year 6 and gives you the skills and knowledge to be classroom and profession-ready.

In your first three years, you will complete units that familiarise you with all of the learning areas of the primary school curriculum, as well as developmental and learning theory that enables you to design effective learning programs.

Through our Experience-based entry, we will assess all your academic achievements, qualifications and life experiences using a point system, where points will be awarded for each item submitted, and the total number of points will determine your eligibility.

This course places you in the classroom from your first semester, with over 100 days of professional experience throughout your degree (the minimum number of days required from the TRB is 80).

This will provide you with the skills and experience to form effective working relationships and develop your professional experience in education.

Applications are strongly encouraged from high-achieving school leavers, First Nations peoples, people for whom English is an additional language or dialect, people with disability, people from regional, rural or remote locations, mid-career professionals or people from low socio-economic backgrounds.  
 
Scholarships of up to $40,000 per student are available for students studying full time in undergraduate initial teacher education (ITE).
 
The scholarship can help with the cost of study as well as provide opportunities to teach in government schools or government-run early learning settings for a period of time after graduating.

The Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours) is accredited by the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).

2. Design programs of learning for primary school children linked with the Australian and Western Australian curriculum.
3. Utilise a range of resources, including educational technologies, to enhance teaching and engage students in learning.

Available for students enrolled in UWA’s Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours) program and provides the opportunity for paid work alongside a dedicated mentor teacher.
